An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) has be become an increasingly popular solution for families who want to care for an elderly parent instead of relying on a pricey assisted living or care facility. ADU’s are also popular for adult children returning to the nest and as an income stream when used as a rental. Owing to the housing crisis in many urban areas, ADUs have become a welcome solution by cities to ease the housing shortage and as to promote affordable housing. In California, new laws adopted in 2020 have made the application and approval process significantly easier. Zoning, setbacks, planning and building fees, and approval timelines have been relaxed and improved.
Our seminar will cover different types of Accessory Dwelling Units — attached, detached, prefabricated, and built onsite, the application and approval process, size, design elements, utilities and separate metering, parking, cost and more. And, as always, there will be time for questions and answers. Happy to have you join us.
