Carey Bros. Remodeling skilled designers, Alisa and Beth, share some of their kitchen and bath favorites!
Alisa Harvey’s Favorites:
Patterned Tile
Patterned tile is always a great look that adds a beautiful focal point to any bathroom. The cost isn’t much more when adding a pattern, so I like to encourage my clients to select an interesting pattern that reflects their personality.
Storage Solutions
Storage solutions are always needed in every home to keep organized. When designing a remodel, I like to use the height of the room to maximize the space. This may require a ladder, but it’s a great option when the client is limited on floorspace. Another great addition is drawers and pull-out storage, making the best use of lower and mid cabinets.
Drawer Microwave
The drawer microwave is the best option when you don’t have room for a wall oven/microwave combo. Microwaves over the range can be quite dangerous when heating up liquids, so I like to suggest this alternative when appropriate.
Beth Soto’s Favorites:
Farm Sinks
Apron front farm sinks are a classic finish, and I especially like this one from Shaws: the Shaker style farm sink. With crisp, clean lines, this sink finds its place in both vintage and modern kitchen design.
Pantry
Not often considered a design feature, a pantry can be a showstopper if done right!
Glass Front Cabinets
A kitchen or bath design can always benefit from strategically placed glass-front cabinets. Simple dishes, fine china, and fluffy towels are elevated when on display in a special place. In-cabinet lighting is optional and can change the look depending on whether it’s chosen.
