A Simple Project Gave a Big Surprise

Palm Desert, California

Scope: This homeowner only wanted a flooring upgrade, but when they pulled off the baseboard, surprise – toxic mold had thrown a wild party all over the place! What was meant to be a simple fix suddenly spiraled into a full-blown home makeover, thanks to an unwelcome mold invasion.

Features: After the mold was diminished, they were left without the bathrooms, laundry room, and kitchen. They made lemonade out of lemons and took this opportunity to turn the third bedroom into an office and added gorgeous light French doors. In the kitchen, they reconfigured the layout and went with magnificent navy blue cabinets that were complimented by granite countertops with blue veining. The fireplace was added to the list and now features a gorgeous stacked stone. In the primary bathroom, they were able to get some extra space by removing a closet, and it now has a magnificent marble shower and double vanity. The entry to the bathroom from the bedroom has a beautiful barn door with black hardware. The bedroom has a fun accent wall with peel-and-stick wallpaper. The guest bathroom’s tub shower surround features a rich chocolate brown porcelain tile. The home received new electrical throughout, and of course, we can’t forget the new hardwood flooring that kicked off this project.
